The 998th Military Police Company (Avn.) was activated in August, 1942 at Camp Ripley,
Minn., and trained at Lockbourne Army Air Base, Columbus, Ohio from October 1942 until
departure for England on 14 January 1943. Lt. Col. Robert Dalrymple commanded from
Sept. 1942 to Oct. 1943. Capt. Glenn Pelton commanded from Oct. 1943 to March 1944.
Captain Charles L. South was in command from March 1944 until April 1945.
