The 1671st Ordnance Supply and Maintenance Company was originally knwon as the
671st Ordnance Medium Maintenance Co., commanded by Capt. Saul M. Cohen, which
merged with part of the 1061st Ordnance Company Avn. (AB), Commanded by Capt. John
S. Burt who took charge of the new unit in June of 1943. Capt John J. Deegan took over
from Burt and served until August of 1944. Capt. William H. Van Vliet took over from
Deegan and served until April of 1945.
