This crash is highlighted in the Duxford Diary, Page 21.  The caption reads "Capt. (then
Flight Officer) Charles DeWitt of the 82nd Fighter Squadron was in the P-47 Thunderbolt
shown below when it crashed on a takeoff.  The fuselage and tail section landed 25 feet
from the wings and cockpit, and the engine and belly tank shown in the bottom two photos
were approximately 60 feet from the wings.  Capt. DeWitt got out with only a bump on his
head and walked away from the crash."
